what i’m buying & where fashion is going

Lately I’ve been thinking about what I’m actually buying/ selling and where fashion is going in this day and age of over-consumption. It’s weird walking into charity shops now and seeing rails full of Shein — clothes that were made to fall apart, already on their second life before they’ve even been worn. A few years ago, resellers were the villains, getting dragged for “gatekeeping” vintage, which they still do tbf. But now? It feels like we’re doing more for circular fashion than half the brands people still worship, and even when brands claim they’re sustainable, are they really?

At the moment, big corporations see more waste = more sales. For example, Apple. No much more needs to be said there. At least with clothing, there’s some resale component that’s doesn’t really need much fixing. It isn’t just a niche anymore, it’s a whole movement. The secondhand market is set to triple by 2027, while fast fashion keeps losing its grip. People are starting to choose clothes that feel personal, that actually say something, instead of just following whatever TikTok’s pushing that week.

At the same time, the pressure on brands to be circular and reduce waste is getting real — especially with polyester making up more than half of all global fibre use and driving up fashion’s emissions. But a lot of brands still miss the point: they either greenwash it, damage waste to maximise profits and with consumerism at an all time high, it’s like printing money, stripping the emotion out of any item.

So where is fashion going? Maybe fashion isn’t really changing that much, it’s probably going backwards to when clothing had personality. What is really changing is what we’re buying. People are clocking that “sustainable” doesn’t mean chucking an organic cotton label on the same fast fashion silhouettes. What’s actually exciting now is the development of new materials that do more with less: stuff like coffee-based fabrics (hint hint to the future of NTL), mushroom leather, recycled denim, or deadstock mesh that doesn’t just reduce waste — it feels different, looks different, tells a better story and is actually BETTER for you. A lot of the newer brands coming up are experimenting with this and honestly I’m SO glad as this is where it should go.

So.. what am i going to be looking for. What’s the goss, what’s the new ‘cool’ stuff i’m looking for. If you’re not aware, I do not source off trend reports (I don’t even look tbh), I don’t even buy in bulk from mystery boxes. I pick things by individually by hand that have PERSONALITY — clothes that speak without saying anything…:)

I’m looking for the asymetrical tops, the layered/embroided cottons/ linens/ denims. The slouched leather & denim bags. The 3/4 lengths, aka jorts. Those chunky belts (that actually fit you lol). Expect JACKETS SOON. Denim jackets, leather jackets. asymetrical jumpers, HATS HATS HATS… berets!!! (I love berets). The 90s fashion really is coming back.

I also wanna know what YOU want. so tell me!!! DM me on instagram/ contact me on my website/ join my whatsapp group for all the updates, where you can tell me exactly what you want and I’ll find it for you ;)
